The Hitavada Newspaper is an English language newspaper with the most number of circulation in central India. The newspaper was also known as The People Paper. In 1911, freedom fighter Gopal Krishna Gokhale set the founding step of the newspaper in Nagpur. Later the newspaper ownership was transferred to Banwarilal Purohit who also owned by Purohit and Company. The Banwarilal Purohit was former MP of BJP and also a Governor of Tamilnadu. The newspaper celebrated its 100 years of excellence in 2011 where Mrs. Pratibha Patil, then President of India inaugurated the ceremony.
